2 channel Marshallesque build
Not sure if this is a long shot but,
Following the very successful first build of a single channel Vibroverb (thank for guidance everyone),
I'm looking to see about converting my Bogner Alchemist into a British amp of some sort. Its had its day but the transformers are there and seem to have held up fine. Plus, I get to save alot money having a cabinet, chassis, and the transformers to kick off with.
Do you know of any plans for say, a dual channel Marshall or highwatt type amp that could use 6V6's or EL84's? I probably would rather spring for EL34's but the electrical specs may be a but too much for the Alchemists transformers. I figure 6V6's are safe that way and will be plenty loud enough for what I need.
It would be awesome to have a channel that is as clean as can be for rhythm, chorusy chord arpeggio's n stuff, and then a 2nd channel that can get the grind or blues breakup happening to some extent, probably having an extra gain stage. I picture having an AB box that could just hard switch between 2 inputs on the amp. Also, if an FX send/return could be implimented later in the circuit that would be just perfect.
As I say, I don't know if this is a long shot but, I'd be very inspired to making this happen.
Thanks!
Phil D.

Sluckey, thank you.
They both look great but that 6V6 Plexi lite gets my attention. How did you like the sonic quality of that one?
If you have any more plans for the Plexi lite I'd sure love to see them. That may be right up my alley for the Alchemist change over.
Please feel free to send my over some links or sites, I'd be interested for sure,
Thanks again Slucky

I did sluckey's dual marshall build and it sings. Love it. I highly recommend it. I've heard a lot of people say that the 18 watt version really works well too.

I love the 18W Lite circuit. Easy to personalize too, but sounds fantastic stock. Phil, how did you like the EF86 channel with the Marshall PI and power amp?pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 8:55 pm I did sluckey's dual marshall build and it sings. Love it. I found them, thanks.
I'm liking the looks of the 6V6 Plexi. Haven't had that tone since 1975.

Re: 2 channel Marshallesque build
I didn't use an EF86 in that build. Sluckeys' just uses the plexi and JCM800 channels as the two channels, all use 12AX7 for the tubes. My Vox AC30/4 on the other hand did use one and melts faceColossal wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:28 pmI love the 18W Lite circuit. Easy to personalize too, but sounds fantastic stock. Re: 2 channel Marshallesque build
After a little more looking, the dual Marshall (plexi and 800 preamp) going into a 6V6's power section to me would be something of great tonal variety as well as very applicable to my situations volume, genre/tone wise.
Plus, the Metro amp zero loss effects board looks like a great touch. I'd fricken love an amp like that.
Thanks for sending me over there Sluckey
Best,
Phil D.

Here's my version of Sluckey's dual Marshall: https://www.tristancollins.me/ax84/Mutineer/Built/pjd3 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 6:24 pm After a little more looking, the dual Marshall (plexi and 800 preamp) going into a 6V6's power section to me would be something of great tonal variety as well as very applicable to my situations volume, genre/tone wise.

A few tweaks here and there - using Merlin's guidance for blocking distortion and bias circuit. Also using his Bone Ray stack to save space on the front. It works really well for me. One thing which might be a blocker is I don't think you'd be able to use an AB box to the inputs - I find the levels needing altered and the eq adjusted, but you might be OK.
In fact, I end up using the JCM800 input 90% of the time set to bluesy crunch and rolling back on the guitar volume for cleaner, and boosting for heavier. And then a distortion pedal for even heavier.
