I started this post on transformer testing. It seems relative to this post as replies might answer that question why do transformers sound different.

I had another thought last night after reading another JM thread: I changed the voltage divider values from 69k/1M to something else. This changes the gain structure of the amp. I felt after I'd built it, it wasn't loud/present enough for a 100w amp so experimented with different values.

I'm sure if you go back over my build thread it will be detailed, it may have been 150k. Anyway , that's the most likely thing perhaps to affect the overall sound/feel of the amp compared to the standard two rock maybe. Also I'm not sure if the two rock amps have the NFB switches or if they're always in circuit, that again makes the amp come alive a bit more IMHO.

I also feel that experimenting with the voltage divider helps. I've added treble bypass caps on two of my amps to get more of the traditional AB763 sound.
