I've been meaning to share a build for a couple months. I have been building these 3 hole Dumble creations pretty regularly. Someone recently sent me #038 for repair and it was inspiring to see the real deal 70's and how well it lined up with our 2nd gen layout in the files section. Dumble built his amps to survive an apocalypse! A lot of the old parts aren't really attainable anymore, but even with new production parts these amps are awesome!
So here's a 70's I just built for a customer. This is going in a combo with a Celestion G12-65
Amplified Nation Dumble style chassis
22w, 6V6 using Classic Tone Fender Deluxe Iron (both power and output).
Custom 100w to 22w reducer bracket to fit the PT
Stranded Teflon wiring throughout, RG188AU used for Coax
F&T Filter capacitors (2 x 100uf 350v)
Koa Speer carbon films
Orange Drops

Honestly I was really hoping for some glaring differences but the layout is correct even showing this crazy relay that actually mounted outside of the chassis. The amp sounded INCREDIBLE.

That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't that change the whole 2nd gen characteristic though? I've really been getting into mine, hence the recent sound clip I posted. Having the accent on or off and no OD volume makes the amp a little more 'interesting' but if you get it in the sweet spot it's a glorious amp.
I have a 22w/50w switch on the back which actually works really well too.
I always think Taylor's builds have less components than mine as they're so tidy great job as always.
I've been making a new head only cab for mine today. I got it finished but I've made the front baffle grill 5mm to tall so I'm going to have to strip it and saw off 5mm tomorrow......bugger!!!!

I have been studying the switching on a straight 2nd Generation vs. Hybrid 2nd Generation dual master and as far as I can see if both clean master and OD master were the same exact value set at the same spot it would be the same as a straight 2nd Generation. You just have the added benefit of actually adjusting the OD volume. I hope this makes sense. So the character of the amp is more or less the same. Yes the presence is different than the accent but I also think that is an added benefit. If I am incorrect please let me know.

That makes sense. I've been using this amp in permanent OD so the volume difference isn't an issue. Regarding the presence, it's a subtle effect so having On/Off kind of works for me I tend to have it off so again with the amp set permanently in OD with the presence off I don't need fine adjustment that just me though YMMV.
I've got a NOS AT7 in my amp too which is like the original, that also has an effect on how the amp behaves compared to all 12 AX7's. It certainly wasn't an immediate amp for me, but as with all these amps you have to work them to find out what they can give you.
but if you get it in the sweet spot it's a glorious amp.
