I love the fact that this actually needs a Tube amp to work!
They had me at 'tube amp" actually "tube amp expander"

Cheers!

My dream is to be able to play as loud as I want whenever I want, but yeah that thing is pretty cool for all it does. I've been messing around with effects they way Larry Carlton does it, post amp similar to what you would do in a studio, this thing will do all that and more in one box.

Looks very nice. They seem to cover all the bases. Wish it was a little less expensive, but I suppose it's not that bad given all of the functions.

here's an interesting scenario it can also do.

take your tweed champ, a sound you really like but its too small for gigging, plug it into the WAZA and you can feed the same sound via the 100w power amp built in, into a lovely 2x12 or 4x12 and have the tone you like but at a higher level. Obviously it will sound slightly different depending on speakers, but you get the idea. :D

I'd like to try one just to see if it messes with the tone of your amp at all.

A friend emailed me links to this thing ahout 10 days ago. He has heard my rig and keeps looking for a single solution.

So, you can buy them for around $1200. If you don't mind reliability issues with a single solution, using Boss effects, and you don't mind spending 3x what something is likely worth.. it's the box for you.

For $50 you can (we all love to build a thing) build an infinite load that fits in a rack space and eats 300w peak. That is with a line out. For $350 you can buy a brand name class-d power amp that puts out over 2kW at 4R. That fits in the rack too. For $400 you just got a single channel with loop thru to power one or more cabinets until the walls melt that can play volumes low enough to lull mice to sleep. The local place you buy the brand named amp probably stocks those, so if the amp fails you are a ride away from replacing the amp. You get to pick your effects, and if you use multiple amps, you are around $400 from adding the second channel (line mixer with multiple auxes plus second 300w infinite load) to your small rack rig and $50 each for the next 8 amps.

For $70 each load you can add a great Low-Z transformer pulled from a classic console.

I am the guy who services his NS-1000s instead of buying a new set of powered monitors that only pretend to sound good and fail three times a year when the amps die.

:)

That thing is a more complex Bad Cat, and screw those pieces of shit. If you need all the extra stuff it does, you probably already own that. Do not be an early bird to this party.

It absolutely does, but everything does. ;)

Are you telling me you are going to take a tweed Champ to a gig with a 4x12? Are you making up scenarios? because: reasons

You have a pile of dead cows. Play that!! Freak!

you're missing the main point though Miles, it's the ability to edit/use IR's for direct recording/gigging. That's the big interest for me as I don't have a good separate guitar room in my studio, so cranking an amp with clients in the room isn't great, hence my Kemper. I could just plug any amp into this and have a choice of my favourite speaker/mic IR's and be ablewto tweak on the fly with my amp silent in the room. The UA OX box and the two note torpedo are about the same price as this and they don't have all the FX and ability to integrate with your amp live with foot switchable stored settings. Being able to dime a plexi and have reverb/delay 'after' would be a great addition too live. It's what larry Carlton did for years with his DUMBLE, mic up the amp and then had a little PA next to it for FX. this would achieve the same thing a lot easier/cheaper.

I'll see if I can get hold of one to try sometime and report back.

Maybe I am, but IR rooms and mics never made me happy.. so maybe I's do anything else. :)

I play at television volume about half the time! The rest of the time I play almost loud enough to fuse hydrogen. Same pile of crap.

I am interested in the idea. I just wait until 10 people who really know have beaten the crap out of stuff and don't complain. I have half a house filled with rejected next big things.

I know at least 6 people who bought Ox.

Also the OX-------------------the editing software is current Mas OS ONLY...WTF!!! so my ipad 2 I keep around for such things wont work, my old backup pro tools rig is still on mountain lion so no go and my main studio DAW is running windows 10 so UA can kiss my a**

I find that mind boggling. Apple has made it clear for over 5 years that they do NOT support professional audio/video/creators at all anymore. Why would UA hobble themselves like that?

What? That's the primary function of my Mac, supported by software from Apple, Adobe, and MOTU, plus a ton of open source software.

I hadn't realized religious discussions of 21st C computer OS "choice" was a permitted topic even in our Garage Talk zone.

I paid 1000$ for logic audio, and then they basically dumped it into the garbage for the newer, mediocre version that cost 299. Except when I upgraded to their 64 os, I couldn't get driver updates from the manufacturer of my tascam audio interface (yes not apples fault) so I had to dual boot between 32 and 64 bit when I wanted to record. Then my hardware died 1 month after the extended warranty ended. Add on top of that the insults they've done to video editing by crippling Final Cut, and all other 'pro' level apps, most people in the audio and video industries are moving away from apple fast. They also stopped making pro line products that were worth buying, etc. I could go on and on.

If you have software that works for you now, great, I just hope you don't need to update any time soon, you'll be screwed. My favorite video on this recently was done by Rick Beato:

I can desist, but what else should we talk about in the garage? Or shouldn't we? :D
