Uhhh.. I think Dave's speaker is 8.

Imagine the load. It would be two semi trucks full of resistors backed up to a substation to power the fans. Too noisy to use in the studio.

I moved the 470k/500p after the volume control. Seems my theory was correct. Though it didn't add as much low end as I anticipated, which is good as the amp has plenty now, maybe just a bit more low mids. Seemed to make it a bit more crunchy, probably due to the grid current limiting of the resistor.
