You mean on the inverting side, Tony ;^)

Marcus, did you solve the pilot LED issue?

yes, I put a new LED in and swapped the cables until it worked! I'm sure the schematic shows the lead coming off the diode going to the anode of the LED, anyway, it's a bit like OT primaries, 50% chance of getting it right only without the squeal of death!

put a 47k resistor on the bias pot and it's bang on in the middle of the range now at 37mv which is 60% of 485vDC.

the PI balance: I've got 6v higher on the side nearest V2, or 6v lower nearest the output valves.

As I said, if it hadn't been for the relay debacle, this would have been one of my most successful builds, everything worked perfectly.

I'm going to make a cab this weekend as my fiancée is away working in Holland :D

I might have a poke around and see if I can stop the oscillation when using the OD and FET boost. I can get the FET pot up to about 12 o'clock oK then after that it starts to squeal. I have shielded runs to and from the relay/input/FET board. I don't have any wiggle room to move the cables though as they're short and direct under the board.

I doubt I'd want a large FET boost with the OD so it's not a big deal.

started on the cab today.

hand tools only and in my rear garden!

Tomorrow I will cover with blue suede. It will be the first time I've done it in sections as it's real suede and the hide isn't large enough to do it in one. I'm going to do it like the tweed amps were with an overlap top and bottom......wish me luck.

the end of a busy weekend. It's a lot of work when you've no workshop, proper tools, but I've got there.

here we are then, in her clothes. Just need some graphics/logo to finish.

thanks Phil. First time I've used 'real' suede. Lot easier to work with than the faux stuff that's for sure.

Friend of mine said I should call this amp the 'Fontana' in honour of DJ Fontana who died yesterday(Elvis' original drummer) I worked with him and Scotty Moor a few years ago on the Sun records tribute. Blue suede and all :D

Beautiful work Marcus. No glue issues compared to faux suede?

Thanks,

Aaron,

It was really nice to work with. Its thicker so the glue sits nicely on it without going through. It takes more time to do it in sections with the overlap, I used masking tape on the top of the side panels once I'd applied them where the overlap is so I could get a clean edge with the glue.

@Erwin,

Haven't had a lot of time to really play it yet. I'll keep the thread open and report my thoughts.

Again, great results Marcus, congrats!
Very inspiring!
I would be curious to hear some samples as some report a bass overload in the BM build. Did you use the BM specs or the ripper ones?

Thanks!

Fred.

Thanks Fred.

Standard Bluesmaster with the exception of switchable FET BOOST. I used also used Sozo caps on the P.I.

560 instead of 470 grid stoppers.
