D'Lite Mods

Post by sst4270 »

I am now clear too. Thanks for all the help.

One last thing...
Should I decide to switch to 6L6's in the future what OT is recommended?

I'm currently using the Marshall 18 Watt replacement from Mojotone as my OT.

Stelligan, What did you use on that amp you posted the photo of??

SST,

The output transformer was this one from Antique Electronics:
P-TF18343
General replacement 2/4/8 ohm transformer, can be used on many 50 watt amps.
Specifications
Audio Watts (RMS): 50
Primary Impedance (Ohms): 4,200 CT
Secondary Impedance (Ohms): 2/4/8
Mounting centers:2" x 3.5" vertical
Weight: 5.4 lbs
Inexpensive and very versatile - this would work fine if you decide to switch to 6L6 tubes eventually. Would equate to 2/4/8ohm on a 6L6 build and 4/8/16 for a D'Lite(6V6). If you are shooting for something pricey and "booteek" perhaps someone can chime in and advise. I am sure there may be better choices out there for more dough. I have used this OT in 2 builds now and am very pleased with the sounds. In the D'Lite above in this thread and with a 50 watt HRM referenced here: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=3264

I have also been using the BrownNote OT in a 6L6 D'Lite and that amp sounds very good indeed! You may see if they sell the OT separately or can give you specs.

Happy Soldering!!

One more time...I just wanted to thank everyone here for being so willing to share their knowledge, and to do it so patiently with guys like me who are just venturing into these high-voltage waters.

On my D'Lite 44 basically the difference between this and the 22 was the output transformer.
It has dual primaries with 4.4K and 8K leads.
I installed a DPDT switch so I can use either winding and keep the impedance selector true to the values printed on the chassis.

So once you get trimmers installed in these positions, how are they adjusted? What are you aiming for, and how is it measured?
