I remember some posts on the John Mayer forum about this being a fraud: http://johnmayer.yuku.com/topic/14939/V ... CJCLn9uR6M

This is what they wrote:
The Axis wah from Vertex was a recased and rebranded BBE Ben wah. A total fraud.
Here's the photos http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index. ... d.1461942/
And here's what Mason said about the issue http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index. ... n.1477492/
So it was a fraud... such a shame
In any case, his page says that the SSC may come out this november, so we'll see
Have you tried the Royal Overdrive going straight to a power amp? bypassing the preamp in a guitar amp?
Another person posted this
Hey, I'm gettint really in the "Vertex is a total fraud" stuff and found this... http://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic.php?id=27168
Maybe we should spread awareness about this guy.
Vertex also came to the forum and posted some things
Hi again AlejandroR!

I couldn't figure out the multi-quote option, so I apologize for taking up an additional post.

I did in fact build a pedalboard for Joe Bonamassa (see below).

He commissioned me to build a pedalboard for him on the recommendation of several other professional players that I had build rigs for that are close friends of his (all of whom I had built rigs for in the past). After receiving the finished product, I didn't hear anything from Joe about having a problem with the rig until approximately 6 months later (coinciding with the Axis Wah scandal) when he posted on a message board about his experience with my services (what you linked above) to warn prospective customers.

I will be the first to admit, that although rare, I have built pedalboards that have arrived to the customer and had a problem once integrated into their specific environment. When this does happen, I incur all costs to get the rig back and make any needed adjustments. I always do everything possible to create a representative working model of the equipment and environment that my clients will be using to avoid any possible problem once the rig is in the field. When Joe's rig left the shop, it was functioning impeccably, without noise, and true to the tone of the chosen pedals on the board. Evidently, this wasn't the case once it arrived to Joe. However, there is a limitation to correcting a problem if I don't know it exists.

To reiterate, I was not made aware of any problems with Joe's rig until I was directed to the posting you linked above six months after he took possession of the pedalboard.

I take full responsibility for the pedalboard not working as expected, but I don't know of any other steps that I could have taken. I built the rig the same way I would for any other client, the same way I built the rigs of many of Joe's colleagues that had been using my rigs for several years without issue. I'd be hard pressed to construct the rig any differently than I did if I were building it again today.

In any case, I was over the moon about having the opportunity to work with Joe and I am still embarrassed that my working relationship ended the way it did. It was a life goal of mine to have Joe Bonamassa as a client, and I wish it had worked out differently. I admire him and his music and I am a fan. I wish him nothing but the best and hope that I have a chance to resolve this with him in the future.

Kind regards,

Mason J. Marangella
I have no opinion since I have no experience with them. So I let you read the other forum posts and come to your own conlusions

If it has to be a pedal - then Bogner Harlow into a cleanish Fender is sort of better remote approximation (can I say remote approximation?) to what you hear from an SSS style amp.
And Bogner knows his stuff. Never played the Vertex though

What difference does it make I enjoy Mason's products
Yes he did rebrand a Wah that said it's the closest to a real VOX Wah
that was on the market.
