I am wondering what is everyone's opinion about which one does the best job as a post PI cathode follower driver for the output tubes: 12AX7 vs 12AU7 vs 12BZ7 vs 12BH7
I think SVT uses 12BH7. M Hartman SSS#002 has the 12AX7.

Depends...how will you redesign the circuit to accommodate the different tubes?
And what is your objective?
They all work and work well *in the right circuit, and in the right application*.

Tube layout:
V1, 12AX7 (Pre-amp tube)
V2, 12AX7 (Reverb send/return)
V3, 12AT7 (Reverb Drive)
V4, 12AX7 (Reverb clean/mix)
V5, 12AX7 (Phase Inverter)
V6, 12_7 (Cathode Follower Driver)
V7, V8, V9, V10 (6L6GC power tubes)

What circuit and what application? Is this a lead clean amp, or...? lots of things to consider here.
