You look at all the modern tube hifi e.g. Conrad Johnson, Audio Research and dozens of others and it's just the same Williamson and 5-20 going round and round for 60 years. When I get back to the States, get on my feet, first project will be a pair of Radio Craftsmen 500. How lovely is this?!

BTW that Radio News mag have an article for a DIY tube Geiger counter. You know you want to build it! In case the Fukushima washes up, Ruskies attack, or the Krell invade.

Most of it is like tube amps for guitars, but with more emphasis on fancier and fancier noise reduction techniques, minimising distortion, and using silicooties for constant current sources and stuff like that etc
