Dumb question, nothing to learn here

Post by studiodunn »

I noticed on the 100watt silverface I am working on, the center tap is to ground and filament leads are also grounded through 2 100ohm resistors at the pilot light.

Is there any benefit to having both? I've read a few times that if the Filaments s are grounded this way it is common to tape off the CT.

Both heaters center tap and 100r resistors for artificial center tap? It is one or the other, and the resistor method will protect the PT against shorts. Remove the 6.3VAC center tap, and leave the 100r resistors.

Thanks jelle. I just realized I'm talking about two separate CTs. The 6.3v winding has no CT, hence the artificial CT set-up.

If you up those resistors to 2 watters then they will not burn up when the inevitable output tube screen to filament short takes place!

So would you up the wattage or use it as a fuse?
