Pevy Valveking

Post by JoshBernstein »

I ordered a used 1x12 peavy valeveking combo for $200 to bring to college with me, because i don't want to bring anything really nice. Just in case ya know? I figure it'll be loud enough to gig with and ill be able to attenuate it in my room. I bought an eminence texas heat to replace the junk speaker it comes with.
It seems to be a pretty solid mod platform, and i hope to do the so called "mesa mod" to make the gain channel useable. Has anyone had any experience with this amp or the mods that can be done?
Also its the original valveking, not the new version. Thanks!
Not really

Yes, get a 3" box type 220 volt fan and mount it to blow air in or suck hot air out whichever is easier, but it's likely best with that amp layout to such the heat of atleast the output tubes out.

A 220 volt fan on 120 volts will be whisper quite, yet move enough air to help the amp live better!
