Mod and Accutronics, both good, though you can buy two identical units and they'll sound different, especially across brands, but also two units from same manufacturer!

What xtian said, there's a unit to unit variation no matter what brand. MOD available from Antique, and I source identical tanks from Ruby/MagicParts with their own Ruby label on them. Note Ruby/Magic sells to the trade only, not a retail dealer.

I've had less luck with Belton/Accutronic but who knows maybe you'll be the lucky one and get an outstanding tank.

I'm unaware of anyone else making spring tanks. There may be some other distributors who paste their own label on the ones I mentioned above.

The Accutronics tanks i've bought in the last 4 years seem to fail fairly regularly. They look the same as they old ones as far as I can tell.
I'm giving up on reverb on my newer builds and using the tube for a buffered effects loop instead. it makes the amp more versatile, and the reverbs that can be had from processors in the loop are better anyway.

AFAIK, "tank" and "pan" are both names for the spring reverb unit, i.e. the sheetmetal box with the springs and transducers in it.

Between the two (new versions), Accutronics and Mod, I think the Mod tank is a better sounding product. But the old Hammond/Gibbs tank is always better than these. I have managed to source a few correct measuring Gibbs tanks via Craigslist in my area, paid $30@. Worth every dime. If verb is your thing, my advice is to find an old tank. 8)
