AMerican made pots for guitar?
Hi All,
I have a client who brought in a Washburn Maverick Series BT-2 solid body. The volume pot is toast. He does a lot of volume swells and has asked me to replace the dead soldier with an American made pot. Are there any AmMerican made pots anymore? If so, what brands should I be looking at?
Many thanks,
Lou

I don't know where CTS is made, but I would imagine that all he meant was "no Alpha crap"
Give him CTS or Bournes pots,a nd he should be happy.
BTW, I use Alphas for my amp builds - as long as you get the 3/8 ones, they aren't crap at all. But there is this perception.....

Call Steve at Apex Jr and see if he has any NOS or reclaimed pots that will work for the guitar.

Do him a big solid and use conductive polymer pots!

Far more important may be the torque required to turn. What's that called?
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

I gave the customer pricing for Alpha, Bourns, PEC and Alessandro. I explained to him that although Alpha and Bourns are not made in the USA, they come highly recommended. I also told him that both the PEC and Alessandro are rated as mil-spec parts, and should last until the cows come home.....and I mean the LAST cows standing on earth. He told me to go with either Bourns or Alpha.
Thanks, everyone!

I'm curious - what brand pots are in the guitar now?

It's hard to say at this point, as both pots have a blob of solder on the back for shield connections. Maybe once I pull them out, I can clean one of them up enough to identify them.sliberty wrote:I'm curious - what brand pots are in the guitar now?

PEC are Canada made, and I've had to replace plenty - in 40+ year old Traynor amps. Alessandro - so they claim - are PEC's especially made for them, and frightfully co$$$tly!JazzGuitarGimp wrote:I gave the customer pricing for Alpha, Bourns, PEC and Alessandro.
