What the hell is up with Austin Speaker Works?
Hello, my friend sent two blue alnico Celestions to Austin Speaker Works to be reconed with Elegante cones. It took two months to get the speakers back and when we unpacked them today, they were poorly packed and one of them had a horribly bent frame. Both were reconed 16 ohm not the requested 8 ohm and one of the speakers did not even have the voice coil lead wires soldered to the terminal.
In 10 years of repairing amplifiers I have never seen anything this bad.

Doesn't sound like ASW. Did you shoot them a call or email about the problem?

So we decided my friend should contact ASW as he is going through his Zen phase and I definitely am not. He called them and I guess they know this went really bad and offered him whatever he needed to make it right. So he will get a brand new Elegante to replace the destroyed Celestion blue and they will recone the other Celestion blue to 8 ohms. I am a little skeptical at how long all of this will take but we'll see.

I've had two speakers reconed there over the last five years. It is a slow process and I had to send one back to be redone. The second one took three weeks and I wasn't totally impressed with it, not like I was with the first one. It's a weird deal down there in Texas, that's my take. Good luck.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?
