Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
Started a new 6g3 build that will be setup to run small and big bottle tubes.
I'm making a few changes though.
1. Bigger OT
2. Adj. bias and test jacks
3. Heavier filtering (50, 22, 16, 16)
4. Adj. PI
5. Screen resistors and grid stoppers

Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
That's a seriously hefty output transformer, what is it?

That's going to be very nice
Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
Threw some more minutes at it; power and adj. bias supply tested.

Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
That looks killer! And I see mojo

Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
Looks Great. Nice use of KOA SPRs, I just wish that the were easier to come by and in more values.
Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
Thanks Dave, I only have a few of the "legacy" Sozo blue caps left and I didn't want to use them up in the oscillator section.Colossal wrote:That looks killer! And I see mojo![]()

Thanks, yeah me too! I don't why they ceased to manufacture the 1M value.John_P_WI wrote:Looks Great. Nice use of KOA SPRs, I just wish that the were easier to come by and in more values.

Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
Curiosity was killing me so as a quick test I just popped in my junk EL34 startup pair which are severely mismatched and also cold biased.
There's at least 8-10 variations from the stock circuit so I will see how this finally turns out.
Mains: 122.5
Filament: 6.5
Bias: 31.2, 21.6
Plate: 397
Screens: 386
V1:191,183
P.i.: 253, 247
V1&V2: Baldwin black plate RCA's pulls
V3: Sovtek LPS balanced
V4&V5: Winged C EL34
GZ34: Ruby

Re: Big Britches 6G3 Built Chassis
When I get home later I might install the pair of JJ 5881's. I think if I install a JJ 12ax7 at V1 the voltage will drop an additional 8-9 volts. I will roll some tubes and get a baseline on where the voltages will fall using the small and big bottle power tubes.dcribbs1412 wrote:That's a real beauty TM

Head cab, not sure whether blonde or brown. I think blonde would be kind of cool.
