Richie's 36watt tmb

Post by stretch2011 »

Got a question for you guys on this schematic.

What is the plate load resistor for the 2nd triode of the 2nd pre amp tube. From what this schematic reads there isn't one and I just don't think that is right. I could see maybe the 91k being used for both triodes?

That's a cathode follower. No plate resistor, draws straight off B+. Have a look at a Plexi, a Vox AC30 Top Boost, etc and you'll see a cathode follower in those circuits. They are used as a low impedance driver such as for a tone stack or in Class AB2 applications. They do contribute to tone as well.

The plate is driving the grid of the CF driving the tone stack - no plate resistor is used.

I appreciate it guys.

Some things just look funny. Could be because I've been staring at tweed fender schematics for the last 6 months.
