Tweed Bluezmeister build
I'm trying a Tweed Bluezmeister build as per EL34World in a 16x6.5x2.5 chassis bent by a friend. I will use an Antek toriodal PT and a Hot Rod Deluxe OT. Other parts culled and ordered. A tight fit so I am trying mightily to avoid my usual spatial relationship fails. No problems so far, and I hear copier paper has a really low noise floor.

Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
Thanks for sharing! I look forward to seeing the progress of your build!
I've attached a schematic of my version of my current TBM which has an active FX. Most of the changes between the original and mine are simply different based on a preference VS. "better".
The only thing that I would advise considering is using the tone stack topology on my current one which I felt like was a significant improvement over the original. And if you want a tighter bass response, then change the power tubes cathode cap from 10uf to 47uf - 100uf range.
Using a passive effects loop, I found most reverb and delay pedals sounded fine without an active loop in the FX including a Carbon Copy delay, Boss delay and a Digitech reverb. So, the active FX isn't a must but is useful to me as a master volume approach.

Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
Thanks. How would you describe the difference between your tonestack and the original?
Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
I built it with the original first and did not like the "mid" tones they seemed somewhat harsh in some of the mid frequences.
And they did not seem as smooth to me as this design that I currently have. I think it was more about separating the mid pot from the bass pot then about the cap values (from what I could tell).

Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
More progress. This is going in a small combo cabinet hence the OT placement. I figure if Replate can run their OT wires on top so can I. After I finish the main board I will wire the front panel. The relays will just barely fit between the pots and main board so I hope I don't have to tweak much after it's all in. Of course that is wild fantasy, but hey.

I'm excited! Merlin heaters (yay), looks like black Garolite (my preference). Tidy. I didn't count the inversions but sometimes the cleanest looking amps have problems with phase proximity. Not a criticism at all, but I've built beautiful amps that oscillated. Fender, too. Full speed ahead!

Re. inversions and phase proximity I am not following. Could you elaborate?

I just want to mention that relay switch wiring makes my head hurt.
A lot.

It's easier than it looks. But send me a PM before you solder if you are unsure of what to do!lord preset wrote:I just want to mention that relay switch wiring makes my head hurt.

Thanks. I have actually done this before, both with your relay boards and scratch built. But is still makes my head hurt.Colossal wrote:It's easier than it looks. Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
I certainly would rather have Colossal help me .......... but "IF" he isn't available .............. there is some relay info in this thread that may be useful:

Re: Tweed Bluezmeister build
I'm mainly just whining. But I will be back when I fire the amp up and it makes no sound.
