PSA: Cheep Heyboer iron on eBay
No affiliation - I just bought one for a Rocket build. The seller has some 280-0-280 and 337-0-337 Heyboer iron for cheap. The 280v was $32 shipped. He also has new 1 meg Alpha pots for 10/$6.00

Actually they are gone. I guess that settles the question of whether I should buy a 2nd one.Smokebreak wrote:Me toolord preset wrote:No affiliation - I just bought one for a Rocket buildThanks. They are almost gone y'all. The lower V ones at least.
When I run across fire sales like this I like the bargains but I wonder about the backstory. How you you end up with 20 Heyboer transformers you need to dump on eBay?
Re: PSA: Cheep Heyboer iron on eBay
I figure the seller is a straw man for a known amp manufacturer or at least a wannabe. These were for prototyping? Swapped in and out a few times. The could no longer be used for the final product because they weren't new. He might have got away with it if the leads weren't cut too short, but I think that is also part of prototyping?
I'm guessing here, looking for something plausible. I don't know anything about amp manufacturing, LOL.
No one buys 20 of something like that unless they are looking to replicate something. Maybe he didn't like the result and went with something else.
The only other thing I can come up with is that they fell off a truck.

Yea and all those pots. I figured they were the ones that were too off spec, until I saw the one that had 1000 on it.
Re: PSA: Cheep Heyboer iron on eBay
Sorry sir but your PSA appreciated. Last one went to me, but I did ponder 1/2 day or so so don't feel to bad. And I now need to confect another amp.lord preset wrote: Actually they are gone. I guess that settles the question of whether I should buy a 2nd one.![]()
Another mystery? FleeBay sales history suggests an amateur with something of a habit. When I run across fire sales like this I like the bargains but I wonder about the backstory. How you you end up with 20 Heyboer transformers you need to dump on eBay?

the 337-0-337 PT has 3.5 secondaries with only 3A. It says its 40 Watts and good for EL34. Isn't the 3A a little light for EL34s?

6l6s
what would be optimal for el34s ? would 3a be good for 6l6s I think they require less current. cheers

Hmm - either ordering error from MFG that wasn't caught or typo in the listing. A 5A 5V filament secondary is fairly useless. I anticipate typo but an error could explain dumping.V2 wrote:the 337-0-337 PT has 3.5 secondaries with only 3A. It says its 40 Watts and good for EL34. Isn't the 3A a little light for EL34s?

I bought a couple of the EL84/6V6 PTs. UPS tracking sez they will be here tomorrow. The shipper is 3rd Power Amplification. Check their web site out. Will be interesting to see if the transformers were mis-speced as suggested above. You can always call Heybore and get info based on their part/model number.

Arrived yesterday. No typo. Checked w. Heyboer and confirmed definitely 3A 6.3V-ct. Two EL34 would consume full filament secondary. A pair of 6L6 plus 3-4 12A*7 is limit too. That's what I'd been planning so OK. 280v unit arrived pristine, never seen solder. No plan yet for it.didit wrote:Hmm - either ordering error from MFG that wasn't caught or typo in the listing.
