Carr Rambler schematics needed

Post by mikestorm »

Hi to all

I've played this great amp the last day from a guy i meet in a gig, and for curiosity he let me play.

He told me, the amp was brand new and was completelly stock, no mods, original valves ecc... as he went out the factoty.

The amp was amazing, i've enjoyed playing this little jewel for an hour.

This morning i've spent two hours on the net to find out if there is a schematics or something to work on and let me make mine... but... nothing...

Does anyone have the schematics? or does anyone got this amp and can please draw it?

I'm in deep seas... really liked the amp, really want the sound of the amp, really dont have the bucks for the original amp :(

Please let me know

Thanks

Basically a PR circuit with cathode-biased 6L6s. Because the bias voltage of a 6L6 is bigger than a 6V6, you might want to tweak the trem wiggle to be more like a BF vibrolux or BF tremolux (albeit without the CF stage - but you could use an IRF820 source follower to buffer the oscillator).

Here's a great article from Vacuum Tube Valley about Steve Carr and his factory & build methods. Story starts on page 26.

Two of my customers have Carr Ramblers equipped with Eminence Wizard speakers. One influenced the other to get his, & they're both happy campers.

TFT for those links Mark :-)

Re: the OP's question, check out around 2:55 in this video (not a PR pre-amp, but interesting to see the paraphase inverter with a parallel triode inverting stage)
