Speaker switch A, B, A+B seriell, A+B parallel

Post by sbirkenstock »

Hi there,

I was "creating" a speaker switch that can switch two speakers from A, B, A+B seriell, A+B parallel.

I am using this switch:

http://www.reichelt.de/Drehschalter/RS- ... ANGUAGE=EN

This switch has 6 positions, but I only need 4.
Does anybody know about a switch like this with 4 positions only?
I know there are some Rotary switches that can be reduces in positions, but not this one.
Then also it is pretty hard to mount, because of the two screws holding it together. If they touch the panel you are mounting it to, it starts wiggling.

Any other way to do a selector like this?

Best regards,

Stephan

First off that switches 5 amp rating is at 300 volts, at the lower voltage even a full up 50 watt amp runs at, that 5 amp rating drops down and will be right at the current limit that the switch can handle long term!

If your going to use such a marginal switch be sure to add a 250 ohm 5 to 10 watt resistor from the transformers 8 ohm tap to ground to act as a load should that or whatever type of switch goes open while you are playing to save the OT from shorting out.

Does the above mean that as the voltage is reduced down from its rated value, then the current rating reduces too?
I don't think it works like that; rather the 5A contact current rating would be valid at any voltage below 300V.
