I placed an order with Nik for an Overtone Special kit a few weeks back for CHASSIS, FRONT & REAR PANELS and BARE BOARDS. It was shipped last Wednesday and arrived today by DHL. Here is a report:
The chassis is aluminum - approx. 2mm thick with welded corners. It has the mounting (pem?) nuts installed. It also includes mounting bolts, rings and grommets.
The panels are black plastic (plexiglass? lexan?). Not sure how the lettering was applied but it's very neat.
The boards are G10 and come complete with eyelets installed (the tiny eyelets on the relay boards for the relays are slick!). The power and main board are 1/8" thick and there is no backer board. The remaining boards are 1/16" and came with separate backers. Boards with backers included nuts, bolts and washers.
Overall, the quality of this package looks to be quite good. This cost for this 'kit' was $131. Cost of shipping was $47. I ordered a few extra mechanical bits that I needed which I didn't include here in the price or the photo (below).

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special Kit
Sorry, but there's really no point because I won't be doing this build with any of Nik's other parts (or even sticking to his layout) so it won't be a true Overtone Special.Paul86 wrote:Please, keep posting!

Re: Ceriatone Overtone Special Kit
I don't think anyone is interested in whether it will be a true "Overtone Special."
I think the interest would be how you made mods and subs and created your own dream machine, which I think Paul86 was suggesting and is in the spirit of this board.
No one here really cares where you got the parts (other than the suppliers), most of us would like to share the discovery process.
Though if I was trying to profit from this board, I would probably argue that you will never achieve the tone you seek until you buy my ceramic cap that has been in HAD's pocket since the last time David Lindley spit on him.
A whip, a temple, and money changers. Go figure.

This build will be a 50W non-HRM using Bassman replacement iron I got from Allemamps.com (Marvel Electronics of Chicago) and the other usual component suspects. I hope to sneak in a dumbleator style effects loop with one of the unused octal socket spots also.
I'll post the results in the coming weeks/months.
Cheers, Odourboy!
