Posting shots of Quinn SDQ1, SDQ2 - ok?

Post by NYC_Blues »

Wanted to get some consensus.

I know we all like seeing gut shots and other people's fantastic work.

I have a Quinn SDQ1 and a Quinn SDQ2. Great amps - interesting feature sets.

Do you think it would be ok to post guts for the curiosity of the community?

or would that be a disservice to Shad (though he and his company are no longer around).

I would think it would be hard to see values so that type of IP would still be safe...but some of you guys have amazing eyes :)

I don't see a problem they are your amplifiers to do with what you like.

Typical analysis around here is whether the amp is currently in production or not (ok to post if not in production). I don't believe that the amps are still in production (not certain of this).

OK I am going to chime in on this one at the risk of taking a little heat. My understanding is that Quinn amps are either very close reproductions of Dumble circuits (#183) or Dumble based. I am pretty sure Dumble didn't give Shad permission to use his circuits in Quinn amps. If someone doesn't want to share photos or show photos with blurred components that is their choice but we are all in a way stealing Dumble's ideas not Shad's or Brandin's.

I agree, we all use the Dumble template which has been shared and used by us all so I don't understand why its wrong to share another's work of the same.

He's taken bits and pieces of a couple of designs and mixed them in - so didn't know how 'custom' that would be.

Ok - I'll post some pics later this week. The SDQ1 (non-HRM) is en route.

Looking forward to seeing this one as I favor the non hrm kits.
