What would you guys build?

Post by guittech »

Hey all, any other ideas of what you would build in this chassis? If the Big Bottle Lightning doesn't pan out?

It's a princeton Reverb sized chassis, so space is tight.

My tastes run towards british-like sounds, a little aggressive with LOTS of low mids and bass.

Any other ideas for inside "The Pacer"

Allen Amps iron (TP40D and TO40MT) along with one of his replacement vibrolux/tremolux chokes.

Princeton Reverb is a large chassis compared to some I've built in.

Did a JCM800 2204 50w in a Fender Champ size chassis.

Built a Dlite circuit into a Princeton chassis but that is not a what you were talking about, you wanted more Marshall style.

I considered a 2204 too. My main amp at my jam space is a big beefy 2204 with parallel stages (#1 and #2)

A champ sized one would be way too tight for me! lol

Not so hard as you might think. PTP 2204 can be done in very small chassis as long as there's enough real estate for outside components.
If it don't get hot and glow, I don't want it !

JTM 45 with KT66's. Amazing amp with loads of bottom if needed.

treble channel has fender like sparkly cleans.

Classic rock OD when cranked.

A JTM with KT66's would be nice, but sadly the iron would be just over it's limit with that. Gotta keep to the restrictions of the tranny i have (Which is FAR more robust than the original Weber tranny lol)'

After much consideration I have decided to do a "Wreck based Experiment"

I wired it up currently for 3 parallel tube sections, and am going with as close as possible "Wreck values" I don't want to roll a bunch of $$$ into parts before i am sure of the final plan. So it will be an express type circuit, with 3 parallel tube stages in the preamp. Once i finish, I can experiment with those 3 stages being either parallel, or single stages with minimal change, and i can decide IF i like a parallel stage in a wreck, and if I do, which stage(s) it should be.

REALLY considering ordering a proper kit from RJ so I have the some proper parts, but since I tend to end up monkeying with values, I want to have an idea of direction before I go investing in nice parts.
