Trying another of Merlins loops.

Hey.
I built an october club style amp, from the documents on ax84.com
I put in a parallel loop from Merlins second preamp book.
It sounded good, but gave me some trouble with phase cancellation, so now I'm going to try the parallel loop from Merlins first book page 274.

My question is: from various forums I read that you sort of needed a voltage divider before the first mentioned loop, to avoid loading the tonestack.
Is this the same with the second loop I'm trying?
