dirty socket can mimic or cause microphonic tube sounds?
i have a'99 rivera knucklehead 55 head. i noticed what sounded like a microphonic tube the other day. not too bad but just annoying enough to bug me. i tapped around and found it to be the phase inverter position and a nos tungsram 12ax7 so i swapped it out for another tube. still microphonic though. i went through 3-4 tubes, nos and some new production and they were all microphonic. can this be a dirty tube socket? i sprayed the tube pins with caig deoxit and worked it a round a bit. i was going to do it a little more and try it tonight. what's the proper way to clean a preamp tube socket. thanks in advance for your help. craig

Is this a Ciramic type socket,if so there is no chance to see or do anything to put tension back in to make a better connection!
Also I have found that many times with the time I spent diagnosing a bad socket of trying to retention or clean one that I would have wasted less time by just replacing it in the first place!

Last possibility, not mentioned: bad solder connection(s).
