Help installing 9pin shield

I know this seems like a really silly question. I just bought these https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-ST9-162 and they came in 3 pieces the ceramic socket, the aluminum base and the shield that twists on. I can not assemble the ceramic to the aluminum base. Seriously what am I doing wrong im going nuts here?

I am not familiar with that specific socket and shield but I wonder if the pieces are actually supposed to fit together as a unit. Is it possible that the socket is supposed to be a good fit from above in a proper sized hole in the chassis and the shield base clamps it down when screwed to the chassis? It does look like there is a ring around the socket that could keep it from dropping through the hole.

I've used these before (not the exact same ones) and you just put the ceramic socket in place, place the aluminum base on top of it and then bolt it onto the chassis.

Can you post a photo of what you've been sent?

Thanks for the replys. Im guessing your suggestions is how it works. Although they wont fit my valvestorm chassis.

Major edit: I remember when I was ordering 9 pin sockets that ceramics were quite a bit bigger than the other material that Belton 9pin sockets are made out of. I'm guessing your's are too big for your chassis?

You have the 12000 series chassis? There are two. One likes new sockets, one does not.

Use a chassis punch of the proper size to enlarge the holes or return the sockets and get the appropriate size for the existing holes.

I had some Beltons so those went in instead. Ill save the ceramics for something else.

Off topic is there really any benefit using Beltons or anything more expensive over ceramics?

The pin receivers on most new ceramics I've encountered don't retain tension very well in the event of multiple changing such as rolling tubes for testing.

I've seen that some don't care for the Belton Micalex, but have not stated why. I've never personally seen a Micalex fail, but have replaced quite a few ceramics.

On one of my Beltons I managed to make the heater and anode pins arc above the socket by touching them with my meter probe. Didnt damage the inside of the socket at all and continued to work fine. So I'd say they are pretty good.

Also I think they look better.
