Transformer bracket? Frame?
I have an output transformer here that I've salvaged but there was no hope for the mounting frame that surrounds it. Anybody ever fashioned anything like that or know where to get one? I've tried two local electrical supply stores and the both looked at me like I was a complete idiot.

I don't know where you're at but Heyboer Transformers have been able to supply me with replacement bells at a very reasonable price. I had two Sunn PTs with broken tabs, so I made a drawing with very accurate measurements and they matched them up. Perfect fit.

Thanks. Yea, I had that thought right after I posted this so I emailed them. Hoping I have as much luck as you did.

One point in your favour is that EI transformer laminations do not come in any random size, but in one from a very definite scale , so really a few sizes of standard endbells cover practically any guitar amp transformer you may find.
That makes it easier to find a matching one.
It would be very very unusual that yours was not one of these :

the numbers in blue are the old US type designations (112/125/155/etc.) and usually refer to center leg width in inches, although there are some ... um ... "creative" numbers thrown in to make it fun
Incredibly had to use an Argentine table (we still use US sizes, although specified in equivalent mm) because most everything you find on the Net is Chinese, and they, being a modern Country, straight use Metric .

It didn't have bells on it. Just a bracket. It's a 5F4 OT. Similar to this.

I have an OT that's bad, but otherwise the bracket/housing is fine for an ol gal. Outside dimensions, 3 1/16" wide, 1 1/16" thick, 2 9/16" tall, mounting holes 3 9/16" apart. If yours measures the same you can have it for shipping.

That sounds like a fit. My measurements without a bracket are 1/16" less than each of those. Shoot me a PM with payment info and I'll happily take it off your hands. I really appreciate the help.Meat&Beer wrote:I have an OT that's bad, but otherwise the bracket/housing is fine for an ol gal. Awesome! Glad I can help. Here's a picture just so it's not a surprise. The shellac is yellow and crusty, but there's no corrosion or anything nasty. This is exactly what the transformers looked like in my "Little HIFI Speed Build" thread I posted last night. You could just sand it and spray can clear it, or even just leave it as is if you don't care about things like that.
Just send me a message with your address and we'll figure out how much it cost to ship after the fact. If you're within the USA, it'll be quite cheap.
