Had my WES51 for many years, deciding factor was, and is, tips are available locally and from the big houses i order from. Hakko or other's tips would need to come from a unique supplier i don't already deal with.

I have a nice Pace MBT soldering station at work, can't afford one at the house though. I get by at home with a Hakko unit I got from Parts Express for $40. It's temperature controlled, ESD safe unit with a variety of tips, small footprint and works well.

Best thing to do when you buy a new iron is to order several tips at the same time to cut down shipping costs as well as having them on hand.

I like the small chisel shapes as well as a couple different conical.
