Anthem Health Care Company - Data Breach

Post by jam-mill »

Apparently a very large number of people are or will be affected. They (Anthem http://www.anthemfacts.com/) are saying no medical information was lost, but the hackers got SS #'s, home addresses, and salary information. WOW! REALLY! I couldn't care less if some hacker knows my medical information. However, I really care that they can attempt to steal my ID and attempt to steal from any financial accounts.

I went to Experian and purchased a "Security Freeze" for $10; supposedly it will prevent anyone from using the SS# for credit application, etc.

Anthem indicates that they will eventually be notifying anyone whose information is compromised and providing (paying for) fraud protection service.

Feh... When the HI racketeers finally start to spend money on important things like 1: paying claims and B: computer security, and put III last: giant paychecks and bonuses for their oh-so-smaaaaart executives LAST, maybe things will start going right. Don't hold your breath.

I added the following line to all my credit reports

"Fraud victim. Do not extend credit without contacting me at xxx-xxx-xxxx"

Right.
They are non-profit companies.
Sure they are.
