Check your auto insurance policy. Often it has a towing rider, which is typically so cheap most agents put it on the policy. If you buy online, well....

Greg, the guitar is beautiful! Great call!

Are you liking it?

HeeBGB wrote:started out like shit for me. Left early for work, got to within 15 minutes of customer facility.....and got rear ended by some woman. Car will not start. It's a Prius and there is a small battery in the passenger side rear quarter behind the wheel that starts the car up. It got damaged in the collision and the car won't boot up. Had to get towed back from Philly to a shop near my house -$260 even though I have AAA. AAA only gives you the first 3 miles of towing. After that it's on you.....errrr....the woman who rear ended me. So anyway, I get back home and rent a car. The only available cars are mini-vans, sub urbans and.....wait for it..... a 2015 Mustang. Guess which one I took? Only a V6 though but not horrible. Ok so the day is looking up. So I was expecting a package from MJT to be delivered tomorrow.....wait for it.....It arrived a day early.

This is GREAT guitar assembly music BTW!

dude that sucks...
also AAA has a Plus RV gold card for a few $$$$$ more and I think it's good for at lease 100 miles. I have it on my 98 Jetta and have had to use it a few times. It's a lot cheaper than $260

Actually in my 48 years on this rock I have not had back issues thank god. I had a little bit of neck pain yesterday but today I am fine. No issues.

As far as the car is concerned they are giving me within $1000 of what I paid for it in November of 2013. My company pays me to use my car so financially I am in good shape. Pretty much like I got to use the car for free for a year or so. I didn't want the car back anyway. It would never have been straight again.

Dang, glad the rest of the day went better.

Yeah, that damage doesn't look that bad.
Was it driveable?

Somebody will repair it and make a bundle.

A friend and I were driving a work truck and was stopped to make a left turn.
A woman rear ended us.
They totaled her car but the truck had a small scratch on the bumper.

Said friend didn't tell me until later that he got a claim for $8,000 for whiplash........
I never saw him in any distress from the wreck.

I got $0 but had a clear conscience.
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

Probably bent the frame into a parallelogram and wrecked the battery. Done. The big battery is not cheap to replace. I had 2003 Prius for 110k miles and 7 years and the battery was still going very strong but I did look into replacement cost.

Actually the big battery if you buy it complete is between $3-4k. BUT if you can work arouNd high voltage and high amperage DC you can fix the drive battery yourself. The drive battery is actually a bunch of smaller cells wired together like a golf cart battery setup. You unwire them and test each individual cell and replace the cells for about $40 each. My brother just did this in his 2006 prius. He's got 375k miles on his and only replaced one cel last year.

The car was not drive able. Right behind the passenger rail light bucket is another small batter that boots up the car. It was crushed in the collision and the car would not start.

The car is definitely not straight and probably never will be again

Yep, I was quoted $3-4k as well. Those batteries really last. At 7 years and 110k miles, IIRC, all but two the cells were holding a full charge and the two that weren't were still quite decent.

Bummer about your ride, but at least it will work out OK and you weren't hurt.

48? Way to young to drive the identical car to mine.
