Re: Finger Joint Jig
So here is the router corners and the amp mounted. Look nice. I've been waiting a long time to get here. I ordered vinyl and hardware. i'm thinking about the baffle thickness. On my 6G3 deluxe, the thickness is 5/16" plywood with a second layer on the edges so it becomes a 5/8" total thickness.

Like cbass I think a table saw can be even better than a good router jig, if your table saw is decent. But when you have a Crraappy table saw like mine (cheap Craftsman) the router jig is the way to go. I got a Porter Cable, my cheap ass Skill router does just okay with it but because of the 82 hours I put in last week I've got a Porter Cable router on the way to match the jig. If it works better than the Skill (which I don't see how it couldn't) it'll make excellent joints.boots wrote:That's a slick looking jig. I just got the finger joint template for my router and it works great - makes perfect joints every time (after the learning curve). I've done it with the index pin on the table saw, and I think the router is much easier and you don't get the cumulative error if you mess one up.

If you make the cab square you can do it with just 1 part.Phil_S wrote:Really, you should sell knock down pine cabs on eBay. You can ship in a flat box just about anywhere.
Each side can be the same. Cut 12" wide pine to 20" pieces.
The box joint will be reversed at opposite ends. This way any 4 pieces will assemble to a box.
You could also offer 30" sides. A customer could buy all 4 the same, or 2 of each giving 3 different boxes from only 2 inventory items.

Re: Finger Joint Jig
Brother made a router jig for the speaker cutout. Just drill a 3/16 hole in center.

Such nice work! Almost be a shame to cover it.
Re: Finger Joint Jig
Thanks for the compliments. We joined 3-1x4 so this is not 1 piece of clear pine. It does look good and I thought about just staining but I have read stories (urban legend ) of a few blond 63 vibroverbs. So the blond vinyl came in and I have hide glue to apply. I've never used hide glue but will read up on it and learn and the next time this should be a blond.
