That right there is exactly the kind of thing I'd be interested in. I've built a guitar from lumber too. And it was not anything I'd even consider calling "well done". But it worked and I learned some things. Not everyone builds world class amps. But I think there can be something gained by watching anyone who can actually hand craft something.

I should clarify. A giraffe is the same as a carafe, but with a long neck.

No, don't move my cheese.

Agree, fear of forum creep. Even though there is some fantastic guitar talent here, they've always managed to get through as is. I always prefered the serendipity of one 'general tech' post w/ the TW and Dumble sub-forums only. Ever since the tech section was split into Fender, Marshall, Vox, I added a 'new posts' bookmark and check only that.

90% of the action always goes to one general sub-foum anyway, Hoffman it's essentially all on, 'Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs', M-E it's 'Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Repair', TDPRI it's 'Shock Bros" etc. Even here, besides the TW, Dumble, Garage, most of the other sub-forums just gather digital dust.

Does my Leo era ASAT qualify as an Telecaster?

My neighbor has a snowblower for the 4 inches of snow a year we get
He goes out there and clears his driveway and mine uasually melted off by noon.
That reminds me of an old joke about how you make a dishwasher into a snowblower

A diy guitar section would be cool I guess since I was banned from some other ones .
I'm just afraid a more diverse crowd may lead to needing more rules and moderation.
More rules leads to cbass talking about himself in third person

To me it seems that posts concerning guitars, pedals, music, diy, show up infrequently enough that it's handled just fine with the present structure. Maybe convert 'Speakers and Cabs' to 'Woodworking'? So, I'm thinking maybe best to take the thin material and lump it together like we've been doing than rather spread it out into assorted pigeon holes? BillyZ mentioned forum creep, I'm adding forum sprawl. And, like I noted previously, we might be just be creating sad and lonely dust gathering sub-forums.

On the other hand if the goal is to actually grow TAG, for whatever reason, then more sub-froums make better sense. That's a different issues. If we want to bring in new people how about coming up with a sub-forum that brings in chicks who like amp dorks? I'm in Italy ladies!

I'll just point out that the name at the top of the page is The Amp Garage, and adding anything else is mission creep. The Garage Talk sub forum is the one catch-all consolation. I have no beef with that- some very interesting stuff has been posted and discussed there.
