Should we make a guitar section?

On second thought, maybe the Snow Shovels section isn't such a good idea. This could cause dissension amongst the members. The people down south are spared from using them and those of us up north would further segregate into the real shovel pushers and those who use a snow blower (wimps).
What?

Here's one for cbass (and me). My friend Bruce Harvey built this tele using lawnmower parts for the "B-bender". It works like a dream.

I am a kind hearted no. Enough diversity in the garage section to talk about whatever we want. Amps should remain the focus of the forum IMHO.

Re: Should we make a guitar section?
Personally, if there's a section I'm not interested in, I just don't look. However, drawing the wrong sort of folks is another thing. I'll still keep coming, whether you add a section or not. I know a fair amount of guitar posts end up in the Garage Talk section...Maybe Garage talk could be its own section, and have the subdivisions for guitars and pedals? I'm not advocating one way or another; just spitballing with the rest of ya. No batteries licked here, though.
Re: Should we make a guitar section?
It might be helpful to have a count of proper guitar threads in the past year in Garage Talk to see just how much critical mass exists for a separate space. FWIW, I am on the fence about this. I hear those who say it's not an amp topic and there are other forums. This is true, but I think it's also great to see when my "friends" here build a guitar. One could argue the chain is:
guitar > amp > speaker
We let speakers have a spot. Maybe we expand speakers to include guitars. Rename it Guitars and Speakers. Let it cover the front and back ends?
I'm not ready to vote. I'd like to know the count for 2014 to get a sense of critical mass.
Will the bass players feel left out? Or are you gonna allow those as if they are guitars? Electric only or acoustic, too? What about other stringed instruments? Is a piano a stringed instrument? (Piano is usually classified as percussion.) You may think I'm trying to be funny here, but I'm not. This is the side of the argument that suggests it is the kind of thing that causes lost focus. Maybe we've been doing OK in Garage Talk. I'm not really sure.

On the Solomon in the middle of Kansas, we used to combine explosives and fishing often enough...Zippy wrote:DIY pet neutering, anyone?

Pet neutering and explosives not so much...
Pet neutering and fishing brings to mind a old joke... oh, nothing... Carry on...

Please understand that IMO an answer to this question is of no practical relevance at all. - Max
Re: Should we make a guitar section?
I have wanted this for a long time. Last time I brought it up there seemed to be more resistance. So I started the "Guitar Gallery" thread instead.
To those that say it's not a guitar amp topic.....how often do you use your guitar amp without a guitar? I actually started building partscasters before I turned to amp building.
It's not a huge leap from guitar building to amp building. I seriously doubt it is going to bring in a lot more undesirables.
Anyway that is my two cents.
