HUSS 6v6 layout
We have a member here trying to build his first amp. He was screwed by a builder who disappeared with his cash and isn't sure enough to work from a schematic.
Does anyone have a proven layout for the Huss 6v6? I see schematics but i don't have anything to make a layout with.
Thanks.
Chris, watch here, buddy. We'll get you kickin' and screamin' soon.

M Huss site dealing with this amp: http://www.mhuss.com/Plexi6V6/index.html Lots of documentation, and there is a link to a board layout on page two.

Board layout only. He's worried about mussing it up as a newb so..
I know it could just as well be adapted from a 50w'er but thought to ask before hacking one up.

Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
As Mark mentioned on the info pages. that amp was built into a Older Traynor chassis. I think those have the tube sockets in a 180 compared to what a marshall layout or numbering of the socket pins. And Mark also mentioned it was from parts he had laying around.
But basicly, if you have the chassis, and transformers and know the hookup connections for the color etc.. for what those are, you should be able to use a plexi type layout. As the Traynor has the floating above socket heater wiring, like the fenders, and the Marshall have theirs on the chassis.
If the owner could post some pics of what he has, it might be helpful how to direct him,or of someone lives close by,maybe they could give him a hand.

Go to http://www.silvatone.bravepages.com/ go into projects and look at the lite II build. That is for a Marshall 18 watt using EL84 instead of the 6V6's. Pretty much the same except for the long tale Pi resistor. May be of some help to him.
Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
The Huss 6V6 Plexi is pretty much a straight up Plexi layout. 7k6 to 8k OT. Original had 345-0-345 PT. 460VDC on the plates, 420V on the screens. JJ 6V6s tubes. Biased to 17mA IIRC.

Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
Power rail is a little different than a typical 50 watter. The 6V6 screen voltages are lowered with a 5K resistor. Other than that I would think a JTM45 / JMP50- layout would work pretty well. There's a bunch on the Yahoo JTM45 group pages. The Huss 6V6 Plexi is pretty much a straight up Plexi layout.
Reel, any chance the builder can post photos of what he's got?
Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
Yep, 5k 5W in series with a 7-10H choke. 1k screen resistors. Nice compression. It is a very loud amp.statorvane wrote:Power rail is a little different than a typical 50 watter. The 6V6 screen voltages are lowered with a 5K resistor.

Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
He will be along shortly. His board is beautiful. The layout for the board tells the story if you have been there before, this is his first one.

I built one of those, you guys helped me find the wrong resistor I put in from a pic! Other than that it was a pretty flawless build and sounds amazing.

Re: HUSS 6v6 layout
Reeltarded, there are a few active builders on the AGGH forum who live in that area. There'd be plenty of help on the forum too if he was so inclined. I'm 4 hours south of there but PM me if you want further info or if he wants to have a chat over the phone.Reeltarded wrote:Central Coast NSW, anyone close to him at all?
