New Low Plate build, Bass pot?

Post by sonofmickel »

I have a new Low Plate build 50 watt.
Re-phrasing this.
How to wire the Bass pot without the PAB?

The Dlite shows the Bass input/wiper tied together.
Is this correct?(tieing the input to the wiper)?
Two completely different sounds when tied vs untied.

On another note:
How important is the value of the OD2 grid resistor? 180K on #124, 100k on Dlite. All I had was a 200k so I popped that in there.

AND another thing of interest is that the amp does not have as much volume as the Naylor build I did. I have to get the Master up to 1-2 pm to get a chimey clean tone.

I am definitely learning a lot from all of the people at TAG, great site! My build are getting much cleaner too.
Thanks.

On the subject of the V2 grid stopper:
HAD used values ranging from 56k to 180k,
the higher the value the more attenuation of treble frequencies
due to the Miller caspacitance, the higher values tend to smooth
the OD a bit. I found the treble loss is quite noticable at values
above 220k. The real purpose is to prevent blocking distortion,
so , for the OD circuit, I would recommend the higher values found in
real Dumbles, i.e. 150k or 180k for V2b.200k sould also be ok,
adjust to taste.
Hope this is helpful Marcos
