eBay and copyright TW chassis

Post by stretch2011 »

Posted some train wrecks on eBay and got an email saying they were takin down due to a copy right *intellectual property* on behalf of an agent representing Mr Kenneth Fischer. Just thought I'd bring this up to all the TW builders and parts suppliers.

Oh, yeah. Old news [EDIT: Sorry, did not mean to sound condescending! Old news here, but not to you. My apologies]. People try to get around it by saying, "TW inspired," "'wreck-ish," "like famous boo-teek builder," etc.

All people need to know is 17 x 8 x 2 chassis and they know it's for TW.

Well they already caught me so I'm not putting them back on eBay. No reason to get a lawsuit

I agree with Mark and Richie - don't use the name, and just post the dimensions with good photos.

Can't you call it a "wreck" or "TW," or even "Express" chassis?

Martin, I believe you can. I have had amps on there listed as Express, or Express like, or Express type..etc.. I'm sure TW would be good.
Sorry Charlie sells the wreck cabs, and calls them CrainWrecks..

And I don't like ebay, they will pick who can use whatever. There are other items that say "Trainwreck" in the description, and are not pulled.

You can legally use the name in the description for building a copy of a Trainwreck, for building Trainwreck style, ect. Ebay favors the claimant. No win without a mile of cash and paper.

I wonder how sales are going on their clones..

I just thought of a proper listing they would hate.

"Replacement/Upgrade chassis for Trainwreck amplifier"

And so an internet fear was born. Trainwreck chassis go bad and weren't good to start with. lol
