TW Mode pilot lights

Post by M Fowler »

Are you guys getting these lights from US distributors, I only find Canada and they want $25 shipping.

Ebay has Chinese look alikes 10mm size.

rjguitars has them for his kits.

I have a bunch of the 7mm version I ordered by mistake from Canada in red/green/amber but want the larger 10mm size.

Thanks Mark, I'll be curious if you compare the Mode lights to those on eBay... I wouldn't be surprised if they all started at the same source.

rj the Chinese ebay lights look like the Mode lights right down to the voltage sticker. Mine are labelled 110v where Mode are labelled 120v.

I bought 8 of these in different colors, and have used several. They are built well, look great and function properly.

Is it real or is it Memorex? If you remember those days then you are as old as dirt... do these guys make the Mode Lights or are they just that good at the clone biz?

Where in the world do they have 110V? If I remember my travels correctly Jamaica was one place, any others?

I'll bet those light bulb guys were just reading labels off of old US equipment and decided 110V was what we use. Funny how that history has gone?

110V - common in the 60's
115V - occasionally seen during the 70's
117V - This was one of my favorites that was around in the 80's
120V - the current standard?
122V - Might have seen it a time or two

Funny how an A.D.D mind can wander off topic.... some say it's a sign of genius... oh look a butterfly

Granted, but allow whatever smile might come to those that would allow it, then consider that not all who wander are lost. There is some substance in the discussion of voltages that is very relevant to us as amp builders. Curiously, as the mains voltages here have crept up almost 10% since the earlier days of tube guitar amps. Yet, we still find a keen focus on using the original specification power transformers in our amp clones... within 10% does the mains voltage matter?

I'm 122 all day, every day here. Actually, it's like 122.5. The only bonus is, I know whatever I put together, this is likely the highest voltage it will see.
