D'lite type kits in UK
Hi All,
I've had my 50w ODS going for several years now thanks to Scott L and this forum, but I recently got more hooked on 6V6s after building up a 5E3 with a VVR and using a Zen in front of it.
Then after getting Chuck D'Aloia's wonderful Blues with Brains course and watching all his YouTube vids I found out he was playing through a Brown Note 22 or a Red Plate most of the time.
So I checked out the D'Lite 22 and this is definitely the sound I'm chasing.
I might gut the 5E3 build and wire up a D'Lite 22 tweaked circuit in there....
But I wondered instead if there are any suppliers offering kits for Brown Note or similar 2 x 6v6 amps in the UK ?
Cheers
Pete

It's cliche, but Chuck's sound is in his hands. I've been in the room with him at the LA amp show, and when I plugged into the same amp he was using, I still sounded like me.

Yeah, I get that - I've watched Robben Ford play through hired backline and it still sounded like Robben !
still, I'm keen to get that amp circuit - I can hear the 6V6 tone coming through.
I'm gonna try the Teedle Deluxe in the meantime - seems like just smaller coupling caps in the pre, and a balanced PI mod, and I can convert my existing Tweed Deluxe build.
Cheers

I am sure you've noted it, but Tweedle Dee has its own thing going on and it's not an ODS type of sound

Re: D'lite type kits in UK
Brown note is a small supplier - so I suspect he doesnt have any cross-pond outfitters...but I dont speak for him.
I have a dlite - very nice - but it sounds like you can build, so I would think easier to carefully source parts and just do it up yourself - even if you could get a kit theres ussually a wait time.
just work off the normster layout, if you want a sourced chassy you can get one from natchinis (the thailand repo's) quickly - and then the main key is transformers, orange drops, metal films, and the other bits and pieces.

it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

Much simpler to use Normster layout into Fender style blank BF chassis. In my case I used a Princeton size into a Princeton head cab because I like the height of the cab verses a BF Bassman squashed look.

Hi Pedro,
I had a batch of 16x8x2 chassis made a few years ago and have enough parts to keep me going forever. So if you are interested in my surplus stock, PM me.
Here's one I'm working on ATM.
Cheers,
Paul.

Hi fellas,
so in the meantime I converted my 5E3 to the Tweedle Deluxe and I am liking it.
There is a dumble smooth clean thing going on when the volume is backed off
Haven't yet split the cathodes on V1 and put in the additional preamp filter but all good so far.
Hoping to do a 6V6 ODS build over the winter now.
cheers

Now done the extra RC filter stage in the Tweedle Deluxe for the preamp, and sounding very good.
Just the cathodes to split on V1 now and its fully changed from the original Deluxe.
Anyone have any advice on adjusting the PI balance using the 10K pot in the split load PI ?
cheers
