Martin, I'm gonna post a totally ridiculous design that I need done yesterday. But I won't want online help...what's your address...I'll just send the parts. :P

No offense to anyone, just finding humor in reality.

I am really impressed with the OP and TAG collaboration. Awesome job. Bookies had it at 10:1 against.

Bingo! The blue wire coming from the reverb recover stage is shown connected to the wrong side of the reverb level pot. Move it to the opposite side of the pot, to the lug nearest to the FX send jack.

A kit purchased from a commercial site. OP joins up for what seems like the sole purpose of getting help he can't get from seller. Posters patiently get him near the finish line in record time. Many of these accomplished builders could be at their benches building their own amps instead.
Can't thank you all enough for your generosity. I can now safely go on tour with a decent amp as planned! All my other amps are unsuited to the needs of this tour (not working properly, too small or way to big), so it wasn't all vanity -- I genuinely needed a new amp.
stelligan wrote:Here's hoping that OP sticks around after this to do a scratch build or something and is not just a drive by. I have for sure received more than I have given here. I stick around to learn and stick around because of the vibe of all you smart, helpful people.
You can bet I'll be visiting TAG and building some more amps after this!

Heartily agree! :)

THANK YOU, ALL!

THANK YOU for coming to my aid when I desperately needed help. Thank you for your patience with me. I know I am a noob, but I think I learn fast, once things are explained. As I explore the world of amp building and electronics, I hope someday to be able to help others in the same generous way you have helped me.

I now have an awesome amp and can go on tour with a peace of mind. All my other amps were either unsuitable or too small or way too large for the tour, so I really needed this amp. I'd given myself a good month to finish it and put all my money in it, so I couldn't just go out and get another one.

If you've been following the story, you know that I hadn't just casually bitten off more than I could chew, but was under the impression there would be more documentation and instructions available, just like there were for the other models made by the same company. Failing that, I was under the impression the seller would provide adequate support and be as available as he had been in the weeks prior, or at least be there at critical moments, knowing full well about my circumstances.

In any case, I don't want to get all down and out criticizing him. I now realize that he has a negative history with some other people here. I feel he has been reasonable whenever he made himself available. He was helpful up until he was distracted or decided not to be. Recently, after my coming here for help, he did get in touch twice, sporadically. He only respond somewhat randomly to all the key questions I was asking. If it were up to him, I wouldn't be able to do my tour.

Once again, THANKS SO MUCH, guys!

Yay! It works, but not perfectly yet, probably because I haven't installed the tank in a good spot. Any recommendations for ideal locations?

The reverb unit will be built for a particular orientation, like horizontal or vertical, open side up or down. Do you Know the make and model?

Seems like it's a type-9 tank and needs to go vertical with connectors up.

Horizontal with connectors up. The site you linked has a nice write up in their tech section. If this is going in a head box, it should be mounted on the inside of the front panel, connectors on top. If it's not sitting in that orientation you might try proping it up that way.

Does it matter if the tank isn't sitting flush against a wall so that it's closed completely? I mean aside from being a bug trap? ;-)

No, the main thing is that it's on a vertical mounting plane, and level too, I suppose.

The reverb tank is an antenna for the EM field from the PT, just like the OT is. Position the reverb tank while the amp is in operation. You will be able to hear the hum increase and decrease as you move the tank in relation to the PT.
