Footswitch for RAW
Mark, I love the RAW setting and looking at making it switchable on a foot pedal. Can I avoid using a relay and do its simply with a jack to the back and a shunt switch?

Re: Footswitch for RAW
Does it have to be foot switched? If not a pot with rotary switch would work great.angelodp wrote:Mark, I love thee RAW setting and looking at making it switchable on a foot pedal. Can I avoid using a relay and do its simply with a jack to the back and a shunt switch?
I don't care for the raw control myself.
Otherwise foot switch jack wired to interrupt raw pot from ground.
Re: Encore style build needs trouble shooting
I would use a relay to lift the Raw control pot from ground and keep the path to ground very short and in the amp.
Re: drawbacks
I am just not keen on running the ground to a tone stack all the way out to a footswitch and back. It might work, I've never tried it, but philosophically, I just want to keep everything in the amp. That's just me. Foot switching reverbs and tremolos worked for Leo and it certainly might work for a Raw control/stack lift.angelodp wrote:Hi Dave, what drawback might there be to the lo-tech approach of using the switch in the pedal itself.
Try it and see :shrugs:
Re: Encore style build needs trouble shooting
Try the no relay first and if you need to go that route both Dave has a nice relay board but would require a small PT.
Mojotone and Hoffman have the 6.3v filament supplied relay boards.

sounds good
Dave your boards look outstanding. I may go old style route to see if I like the mod then come back and consider the boards.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks Ange. My plan was not to plant doubt, then try to sell you a relay board. I have not tried a simple loop footswitch to do a tone stack lift. I've used relays for this type of application (think D-style PAB) and as I said, I just prefer the guts of the amp to remain in the amp as there are so many external sources of noise these days.
I would just try the low tech approach and it works, great, we can all learn from that.

FWIW, my PS board can take any 5-12VAC non-centertapped power supply, e.g. an unused 5VAC tube rectifier winding, tapped off a 6.3VAC winding, or a dedicated small PT.M Fowler wrote:Mojotone and Hoffman have the 6.3v filament supplied relay boards.

Dave I didn't know I could tap off 6.3v source.FWIW, my PS board can take any 5-12VAC non-centertapped power supply, e.g. an unused 5VAC tube rectifier winding, tapped off a 6.3VAC winding, or a dedicated small PT.

Re: Encore style build needs trouble shooting
I recently used his boards on a D'Lite. Used the 6.3v heater winding, and used 3v high sensitivity relays, which allowed for simple inline LEDs.M Fowler wrote:Dave I didn't know I could tap off 6.3v source.FWIW, my PS board can take any 5-12VAC non-centertapped power supply, e.g. an unused 5VAC tube rectifier winding, tapped off a 6.3VAC winding, or a dedicated small PT.I did that on my 2550 build using Hoffman board. Next time I'll use one of your boards since I have a bunch of them.
Works great.

final
Here's the final amp… yet to work out the RAW footswitch idea. Big sounding cleans and great breakup. It has the Dwell mod and now has the bias jacks in place…. and grounded…. wink wink Mark.
