Is everything grounded at one point on this amp? From the pix it looks like all 3 filtercaps are connected with a single ground buss. I always seperate the power supply grounds from the pre-amp and PI grounds. So theres 2 ground points powersupply grounds are at a ground lug near the PT and pre-amp and PI are grounded near the input jacks. How is this amp grounded?

The filter caps are strapped and have a single ground. I have grounds on the tube side including the OT casing and the speaker output jacks run to a single ground strip fastened to one PT lug. I have allmenger66 wrote:Is everything grounded at one point on this amp? From the pix it looks like all 3 filtercaps are connected with a single ground buss. All of the grounds on the Pots side casings including the input jacks are run to a single ground strip fastened to a second PT lug. the two grounding strips are connected as well. Overkill ?
Are you suggesting that the filter caps should be individually grounded. I am certainly open trying some things while waiting for the new components. I am going to change the first filter cap ( the one that was in reverse) with a 20uf because it is what I have new laying about.

Not individually but seperate using 2 points, Power supply which would be the first and second filtercaps plus the powertubes cathode resistor and by-pass cap are grounded at one point by the power transformer is fine. Then everything else including the last filtercap is grounded at a different point, I do this over by the input jacks myself. mark

The idea is to separate the high current grounds from the low current grounds right?menger66 wrote:Not individually but seperate using 2 points, Power supply which would be the first and second filtercaps plus the powertubes cathode resistor and by-pass cap are grounded at one point by the power transformer is fine. The only thing I don't really understand is if both grounds are connected to the chassis, then how does the high current filter caps/PT ground NOT affect the preamp grounds? They are both connected to the same thing (chassis)
Not trying to thread jack, just hoping for insight that might help the OP as well.
