Catch a falling hammer.
That's depressing. These used to be Desert Island amps: you could get more for a 65 DR than a 65 Twin. Like $2500 and up.
If you don't mind a few scuffs and a couple pokes..

I think it's sad that everyone ruined the market going up. Nobody really cared that much. Greed screwed us in ways you really can't explain to a kid.

I'd like to understand what you mean, how was the market ruined?

Same as everything. It's all connected. I have guitars that lost 10-20 times the amounts they were ever worth. I didn't buy them for those sily prices, but insane people did.

Insane people screwed it all up last decade. They are still trying really hard too. Beware.

I can't speak for Miles, but I believe he is trying to say that there was a bubble and it burst.

Insanity needs a catalyst, unlike sensibility.

Normal behavior for collectibles in an economy with inevitable boom-bust cycles. Blame the Federal Reserve Bank.

In my opinion  this is the way to go if you don't have stash of parts like a lot of us guys do:

You can download the schematic, layout and cap board layout here: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/amp-k ... AjJCMJdWSr

Yup. Friend once remarked that all this reissue stuff seems like it came from a Star Trek planet where they had an idea of what an original was like from a 1966 Fender brochure or some Beach Boy videos left behind by some rouge human careless with the prime directive, and they built a civilization around duplicating vintage gear. i.e it looks good from 9 light years away but get up close and you're like - what exactly is this crap?

So, I'd sell the DRRI and get a good quality pine cab tolexed right with hide glue, proper quality void free birch baffle. I bet the new ones have that crap 4 ply super cheap crumbly stuff (but can't say for sure on that). And then source the chassis etc from Weber, Watts, Mojo etc. Trannies I'd go w/ Heyboers as they always seem to capture the Fender sound for me, but I haven't tried all, but Classic Tone would keep the price down.

Otherwise if you are going to gut the DRRI I'd definitely keep the iron. If it sounds good there you go. Otherwise it's easy to swap first the OT then the PT later if you find you're is limited by that.

Yep, today we discussed selling the RI, and just getting a Marsh kit, which suits me just fine, and I think he'd end up with a much better amp, overall.
If the rebuild happens, that Mojo small parts kit looks great, and cheaper than what i priced out today..I've got stuff here to do it, but it'd be a mishmosh of parts, plus, I could stop obsessing about where to get what, shipping, etc.
