Something to consider for the Rocket amp?

Post by Mark »

I saw the R.G. Keen article and thought this might be just the thing for a Rocket using the 80uF cap and the GZ-34.

Hi Mark,

I looked at this a couple of years ago, but thought the added complication of having B+ floating on the exposed heat sink, one which needs to be fairly substantial, would complicate issues a bit too much at that time, when I was just trying to learn more about the subtleties of the TW circuit.

However, if you use a filter cap board beneath the transformers, it opens up the space the stack of caps would use, and that could be a good place for internally-mounting the sink. I wonder if holes in the chassis near the heat sink would be needed?

You know, Mark, if you just build more Rockets to use, you won't have to use this one so often you have to worry about your rectifier tube failing!

Cheers,

Greg
