Trem question on Gibson Ga 20 and Fender 5E9 Tweed Tremolux

Post by chopstuck »

Both the tremolo circuits sound nice BUT when I turn the depth knob up the with the trem (turned off) the tone gets all splatty.

I have checked the caps in the trem circuit with my Sprague high voltage cap tester and they check out OK.

Hmm. circuits are quite similar...

If that tester does not check for ESR in regards to caps then you may still have bad caps!

Looks like that depth control affects the bias of the PI, regardless of whether it's on or off. Same as the Vibro Champ's affect on the stage it modulates.
If it says "Vintage" on it, -it isn't.

So your are saying that it 's part of the design ?

That the control will alter the PI bias whenever it is turned up ?

Hmmmm.
