Lets See Your Guitar Strap

Post by Cantplay »

Just had this strap made up. (Sun Wizard Creations)

A fraction of the cost of a Freddie Matara strap.

That's beautiful!

I looked at the various designs at the Etsy site. All of them are really nice. I have one already picked out on that site, seriously considering it. Naturally, if I get a new custom strap that will require a new guitar to go with it, yes? I pretty sure that's how it works.

I don't have anything custom, but I love my Levy's strap with oak leaves--perfect for my neighborhood, near Bidwell Park.

I ordered a nice wide leather strap to go with my new les paul because I was worried about the weight, it turns out it's lighter than my strat by almost a half pound.

Bidwell park is a nice place, spent a few summers hanging out there in my youth, having to wait a half hour to go swimming at five-mile after eating hot dogs.

I use the same rope I tie my pants up with.

:)

I say rope. It's twine.

With apologies for introducing a commercial. I have one of these fine straps: http://www.italiastraps.com/ Though they are plain jane, they are the finest plain jane I've encountered. Once you buy one, they send you 2 for 1 offers several times a year. I got mine for half price on eBay years ago. I don't think they are doing that any more. I have no affiliation.

Here's mine... It's Levy's. Can't remember where I got it. Maybe Houston. Not sure, but I am sure I love it. Inexpensive compared to some of this fancy custom leather. :)

Cool!

I have three Levy straps and several generic ones.
The Levy's are wide and padded.

Not expensive at all considering the quality.

I have always used wide straps on my guitars.

I hate the nylon or fabric ones because they slide around too much on my shoulder.

Thanks!...and he wasn't just for looks. I play bass both with a pick and fingerstyle. I never had to hunt for a pick...I always had a spare in his mouth! (See jpeg)

I was walking out of a music store sometime in 1978, I think. A guy gives me the old "hey bub,...come here". He opens his trunk and he's got about 5 cobra skins! He says "pick one and I'll make you a strap". Who could resist?...especially when you're seventeen.
