He's not Muddy Waters but I thought he was pretty good.

George Harrison and Paul McCartney seemed to like Carl Perkins. Underrated or just perhaps a little too long ago?

I do a three mile walk around Green Lake in Seattle three times a week. Today I listened to "Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam." I had forgotten how great this album is.

Such a liquid solo.

Perhaps it only takes one solo to make you immortal:

Has anyone mentioned Jeff Beck?

Some underappreciated sidemen:

Mark Goldenberg - now over 20 years with Jackson Browne. He has a terrific distinctive tone on Tele's. Started with the Cretones in mid 70's, sold a bunch of songs to Linda Ronstadt then his career was off and running.

Daryl Stuermer - long career with Genesis. I first heard him on a Patrice Rushen album mid 70's. Fluid style, he makes it all sound easy when it ain't.

David Lindley - an early Jackson Browne sideman on guitar, fiddle and many others. What a fantastic player & wacky sense of humor. Greasy, greasy, very very greasy... His solo albums are "must have" items.

Bob Mayo - not only a great keyboardist on Hammond & piano, his singing was top notch, and he could hold his own with just about anybody on guitar. Gone 11 years now, but definitely not forgotten.

Jeff Beck - for Miles - anybody else heard the rare "Frankie's Place" - music cues for the movie of the same name. Awesome as always. Also the intro & outro bits on Roger Waters' "Amused to Death." Absolutely. Chilling.

Amused to Death. I think Jeff Beck plays on that.

Talk about a planted groove. 16 tons and on time.

Leo,

Daryl was at the WI state fair 2 years ago and put on a very fine show - his old Boogies sounded great too. Great player, and yes has been in the shadows of Genesis.

Caught Greg Koch after that for some very greasy gristly blues. Good night of music for sure.

Gregs a big boy for sure, when he plays the strats they look like a kids scale guitar hehe. Damn fine guy though, his wit and humor is sharper than his axe licks.
