He was deceitful, arrogant ,and rude. Just because someone is articulate doesn't mean they have anything worth hearing to say.

So we should gag them? Go freedom. Go.cbass wrote:He was deceitful, arrogant ,and rude. Just because someone is articulate doesn't mean they have anything worth hearing to say.

Wait a minute there Merlin. I said I de-activated his account. I did NOT delete him or his thread. I can turn it back on anytime AND i can put the thread back if I so choose. I only moved it to a hidden area. There were a number of complaints and I thought a little time to cool down was in order. That is all that is going on.Merlinb wrote:I still don't understand exactly why everyone got so cheesed off by that thread. I was just getting close to leading Gerry to an epiphany
Also, only 16 people voted to get rid of him, whereas 20 people voted to keep him, and you STILL kicked him off! Shame on you.
Re: who's had enough of Gerry ?
Merlin I have a great deal of respect for you not only as an intellectual but you seem like a geniuly good person . I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one.
My main problem is that he was deceitful . I can deal with assholes not with liars

Got my coffee and pulled up a chair on this one.

You're missing the point here by reducing the Amp Garage to hardware and software. This is a community of people who share a common interest, and it is one if the best such groups on the web, in my opinion. When someone shows up and creates dissention I see that as being detrimental to the community as a whole. This is not a question of free speech either, it's more of a case of "if you are going to behave that way, then take it outside."Merlinb wrote:But this is a website! Re: who's had enough of Gerry ?
Hmm, Gerry may have been quite peculiar and a bit annoying, but I didn't see any evidence of him damaging the community. Dissention just means disagreement; do we all have to agree on everything, now? This place is starting to sound like a cult...martin manning wrote:When someone shows up and creates dissention I see that as being detrimental to the community as a whole.

It's easier to have free speech with a person who can be baited after they have pissed you off. You need an invitation to break civility.
Anyone know how to use an inductor?

I tried pouring water through an inductor, but it was still too ripply. You need really flat water, I think.
Re: who's had enough of Gerry ?
Merlin, as has been touched on here and in other threads, people aren't so much taking issue with the disagreement (or dissent) over content, but rather the moral/ethical/social transgressions. This is an important distinction and it's rule of society, not of cults.
