Suggested Use of a Heathkit HP23A Power supply

I recently came into possesion of a HP23A PS. I'm trying to decide what to do with the PT from it.

I'm kinda thinking High plates low screens, two KT88s or four EL34's into a fender preamp and reverb to a super twin style PI and Driver.

OMG, enough 6.3V to power as many tubes as you want if you respect the mA capacity on the HV winding. Pair of EL34, 6L6, or any of the KT tubes. Good for your choice of 50 watter give or take!

It says 250mA. I don't think you can do a 4 holer with that.

Not even at 700+ volts on the plates and 350 on the screens.

Well, from what I see here, 2x EL34 could get you 90W, but you can't do 4 of 'em unless the actual current draw is at the lower end of the range, and my gut says that's doubtful. Remember, you'll need to accommodate full tilt, not idle current. Maybe I'm not reading it right?

I wonder what you might be able to do without the doubler. Voltage will be reduced by a factor of 2.88, but current will double. It would be a whole different vibe.

It also says you've got a winding that will give you 300VDC @ 100mA. I realize, you'd prefer to have this PT live up to its full potential.

The only reason I thought I could pull off four power tubes is that a marshall JMP100 only has a current rating of 290mA mine has 500mA before voltage doubling.
