Tom just click on the Valve Wizard link above and it shows you the Rg 470k Merlin is suggesting as a grid stopper.

Yes I saw that but that is a grid leak resistor, right?

I added a 1M resistor to Pin 7 of the PI (coming from the other 1M resistor). This pretty much took care of the rattle sound. Also, using 6L6 tubes, I cranked it up about as loud as I could get it without consulting a divorce attorney and got about 14V AC max on pin 5 of the output tubes.

That said, I'm not digging the tone from this. I'm considering a preamp with at least a Bass and Treble control, and I might do the paraphrase PI I mentioned earlier for grins and giggles.

I'm gonna sleep on it....
